The NAT Camp presents an innovative way of conducting the NAT Review for the elementary NAT takers. It infuses the spirit of camping into the NAT review, thus transforming a simple “classroom” type activity into an “outdoor” activity where fun, peer teaching, leadership skills training and patrol camaraderie is part of the package.
The NAT Camp begins with the identification of the student campers’ competencies that need strengthening. Then, it moves on to the formulation of review topics and the creation of instructional materials to help the campers in their review. These materials are then displayed in the campers’ respective stations.
To implement this project, the foundation held a NAT Camp Orientation and Mentoring to 45 school administrators, teachers, and division heads of Sarangani & Iligan. As a result, 15 schools in Sarangani and 7 schools in Iligan successfully implemented a 1-month NAT Camp, reaching 1595 students in total. Of the 21 schools that participated, 13 had an increase in NAT results in its first year of implementation.
