About CLAFI

We are Conrado & Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI) — the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the Alcantara Group.

Inspired by Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara

The foundation was established to honor Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara, the founders of the Alcantara Group. They both led simple yet exemplary lives, working hard and deriving satisfaction in helping others. Through the various businesses they established within 35 years, they helped countless people through employment and provided better opportunities for these individuals’ families. They instilled in their employees the value of education as the best gift anyone can give to their children.

Our History

In 1987, C. Alcantara and Sons in Davao City developed a business unit focused on social development activities, primarily implementing projects focused on the wives of the company’s employees. On September 27, 1987, this unit was registered with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as Conrado Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CAFI), a private, non-stock, non-profit organization. After moving its base of operations to Sarangani Province (SP) in 2003, CAFI implemented various programs, in partnership with the various local organizations, focused on education and development projects. For example: the Adopt-a-School project and the facilitation of water systems in its partner communities.

In 2007, CAFI changed its name and became the Conrado & Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI). Under the new leadership of Ms. Cecile A. Dominguez and, later on, Executive Director Mr. Richlie Lyndon L. Magtulis, the foundation expanded in terms of operations and project implementation. As CLAFI, the foundation focused on programs providing assistance in education, environment, enterprise, health, and local governance. Most notable of these projects are Summer Big Brother, the province-wide expansion of the Artificial Reef Dome Project, and the Mangrove Replanting Project.

Since 1987, the foundation has dedicated itself to uphold the aspirations of Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara, and the Alcantara Group — to provide better opportunities for the people of Mindanao, and to instill the value of education as a means towards an empowered future. This dedication perseveres onto the present.
